Limestone has environmental considerations such as quarrying impacts, however sustainable practices can mitigate these effects. Raw blocks are processed and cut to size in our stone manufacturing facility in Seaford, Victoria which is powered by solar. We use recycled water where possible. We only supply Australian limestone which reduces the impact of transportation on the environment.

Limestone blocks and bricks are laid either dry or mortared and tied back to structural wall (i.e. Masonary or structural wooden frame). Before installing an allowance of 100mm thickness is required for the blocks and bricks along with consideration for reveals such as windows and doors. Limestone Australia can assist in this area and supply corner returns and sils for windows and doors where required

Below 1.2 meters masonry walls can be freestanding with stone stacked on each other. For walls above 1.2 meters in height we recommend freestone is tied back to a structural frame.

We recommend limestone is sealed every 7 years with 1-2 litres of sealant applied to every 1 square metre of limestone block.. For the best protection we recommend using LIMEPROTEC. This is available in 15 litre containers at Limestone Australia.

Continuous dampness may cause limestone discolouration. We recommend sealing limestone with LIMEPROTEC and to be reapplied every 7 years. Limestone should not be exposed to constant flow.

Maintenance typically involves regular cleaning to remove dirt and debris, along with periodic resealing to safeguard against staining and moisture.
